This listing does not include the jar. Made to fit a half gallon or quart size regular mouth mason jars. See our other listings for wide mouth or other jar sizes. You may have to cut a bit off the bottom of the stem or slide the stem up the 3 way fitting if your jar is shorter than the ones we use or if you want to use it in a smaller jar. Mason jars are special high temperature FDA approved food grade jars made to withstand immediate 90 degree Fahrenheit temperature swings and way higher temperatures if done gradually like when using it as a thumper.
Made with thick 1/2 lead free copper tubing, pure one piece lead free copper cap, and a high temperature food grade silicone gasket. All you need to do is attach the in flow, long tube to your still, before the condenser, and attach the out flow, short tube to your next thumper or condenser and you have successfully raised the percent abv by around 50%.
This is why it is referred to sometimes as a doubler. Many customers are configuring 3 or more of these in line and liking the product and process better than their reflux columns.
Attach it your way, solder, 1/2" compression fittings, flare, or 1/2" silicone tubing. See our other listings for compression fittings and high temp food grade silicone tubing. You can also use it to flavor your neutral spirits. It works very well as a flavor enhancer when filled with juice, or cinnamon, or a half a lemon, or sliced peaches, etc.
This Thumper is made out of the stronger, thicker, red label, Type M copper tubing and is designed in this orientation for strength. It is made this way to be able to hang mid air, in line with your column and condenser. It can hang freely and does not require you to find objects around the garage or house like buckets, jars and crates to support it, unlike the more common two hole design in which the copper will bend if you don't support it.
Heat tolerant glass jar not included. These lids will fit on any regular mouth canning jar, they are about 2.5 inches wide. It can fit larger jars too.
I found it to fit a large one gallon pickle jar and a large 3/4 gallon bean jar. You may have to cut some of the stem off if you want it to fit a smaller jar or add to the stem for larger jars. We also make and list one that fits wide mouth canning jars, and one that fits Sanke kegs. Perfect size for 5 gallon batches or larger.
